Four-way battle for Aklan guv

KALIBO, Aklan – Incumbent Gov. Carlito Marquez, along with other candidates of the dominant Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD)-Tibyog it Akean ticket, simultaneously filed their COCs at around 2 p.m. yesterday.
Hundreds of supporters accompanied the candidates.
Reelectionist Cong. Florencio Miraflores, provincial chairman of the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi), and Vice Gov. Ronquillo Tolentino of Lakas-CMD also filed their certificates of candidacy after a motorcade of local candidates of Team Unity.
Team Unity of the administration is expected to sweep the 10 Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) seats up for grabs with reelectionists Santiago Regalado, Plaridel Morania, Jose Yap, Pedro Garcia, Gerick Templonuevo and Selwyn Ibarreta considered as sure winners this early in the race.
Three hours earlier, Anita Victoria Ramos-Antonino, who is seeking the gubernatorial post for the second time under the Aklan Independent Movement (AIM) and the United Opposition (UNO), has chosen as her vice gubernatorial running mate Gabrielle Calizo, a former Aklan solon and close ally of Senate President Manuel Villar.
Ramos first attended Mass at the St. Jude Cathedral before she proceeded to the Comelec to file her certificate of candidacy along with Calizo of Kusog it Akean.
They were accompanied by SP hopefuls Rodson Mayor, Nemesio Neron, Mar Salvador, Harry Sucgang and incumbents Daisy Sucro Briones and Ramon Gelito.
Banker Maria Bettina “Mabeth” Mobo-Garcia, wife of incumbent Ibajay mayor Roberto Garcia Jr., is expected to file her certificate of candidacy for governor today (March 29) under Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban (PDP-Laban).
Last Monday, Dr. Karen Ambito-Galvan filed his candidacy for governor accompanied by former Bombo Radyo anchorman Ernie Sambuang, who is seeking the post for vice governor.
