KALIBO, Aklan – Three Aklanon broadcasters were finalists in the recently concluded 15th Annual Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Golden Dove Awards.
Leading the pack was Augusto Tolentino, who was chosen as one of the finalists in Ka Doroy Broadcaster of the Year category. Angelo Castro of The World Tonight/TV Patrol of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. romped off with the prestigious award.
Tolentino is the current chairman of KBP Aklan chapter and station manager of IBC DYRG Kalibo. He was also an awardee as Outstanding Aklanon in the field of Broadcasting during the 50th Golden Aklan Day on April 25, 2006.
The veteran broadcaster, who is hosting a daily commentary program, said he would like to share his achievement with his family and fellow broadcasters who molded him throughout the years.
“The awards gave honors to the best and brightest in the radio and TV industry all over the country. Being chosen as finalists with Angelo Castro is an honor, ” Tolentino added.
According to KBP chairman Ruperto Nicdao Jr, “with the reach, credibility of Philippine Media, no one can provide Filipinos with a sense of hope like we do.”
“Those who receive the Golden awards are cited for having provided audiences with the latest news, bold and balanced commentaries, engaging works of fiction and educational information,” he added.
The award winning body also chose Allen V. Alcedo as finalist in Best Radio Field Reporter category, Jay Tejada for Best Public Affairs Program Host finalist, both of 98.5 Hot FM MBC CBIS Kalibo, a community radio station here. The radio program KABAEAKA was also chosen as finalist for Best Public Service Annoucements (PSA) category.
ABS-CBN provincial radio station DZAX Davao Karen Serra was adjudged Best Radio Field Reporter and Joey Lina as Best Radio Public Service Program Host.
