KALIBO, Aklan – Crime volume for the past nine months increased by 6.67 percent compared to the same period last year, reported the Aklan Provincial Police Office (APPO).
Index crime statistics showed 21 cases of murder, 19 homicide, 10 rape, six robbery, 61 physical injuries and 11 thefts from January to September. The average monthly crime rate was 5.49 cases, including non-index crime of 96 cases.
The 128 index crimes and another 96 non-index crimes reported for the period gave APPO a total crime volume of 224 with 212 of them solved, said PNP Aklan under Supt. William Macavinta.
The crime solution efficiency dropped to 94.64 percent, or 0.12 percent lower compared to the same period last year at 94.76 percent.
Last year, the PNP solved 199 cases of the total 210 incidents reported from January to September, or an average monthly crime rate of 5.17 cases.
