KALIBO, Aklan – Mayor Raymar Rebaldo delivered his State of the Municipality Address (SOMA) before municipals officials, supporters and the media Friday afternoon at Capt. Gil Mijares Building here.
“What we have achieved for this Ati-Atihan town is immeasurably surprising. But these are just a few of what we can do for Kalibo. Our task is not yet complete.
These are just installments. Much remain to be accomplished,” the mayor said.
He vowed to promote further the Ati-Atihan Festival, the piña cloth and the Manggad it Kalibo through participations in other festivals and advertisements, focus more on health programs, improve the social welfare development program, and improve the peace and order situation to generate more investments and boost tourism.
“Our achievements should also be credited to our constituents for their unwavering support and cooperation in bringing this town at par with other cities. And to think we are still a municipality,” Rebaldo said.
The mayor is one of the semi-finalists in the Civil Service Commission’s Search for the Most Outstanding Public Officials and Employees this year.
Kalibo is a first class municipality; in 2005, it rained in an income of P93 million.
“We have elevated the standards of public service. Through leadership by example, our municipal workforce has imbibed the culture of excellence in the performance of their duties, for the benefit of or entire constituency,” Rebaldo said.
Rebaldo announced he was earmarking P2.6-million for the solid waste management program. He tasked the Municipal Solid Waste Management Board to formulate a 10-year solid management plan.
Rebaldo also touted Municipal Ordinance No. 2005-003 and the establishment of the Transport and Traffic Management Unit (TTMU) to ensure order on Kalibo’s streets.
CBIS Ati-Atihan 98.5 Hot FM Ka-Tribu Kalibo, a community-based radio station, also contributed to the information drive campaign of Rebaldo to bring developmental news and entertainment to Kalibonhons.
Some 184 beneficiaries of the Self-Employment Assistance Kaunlaran (SEA-K) program were also given P872,000 for their capital investment.
Rebaldo thanked Cong. Florencio Miraflores for his support in the establishment of the Information Technology Center where 18 computer units are being utilized for literacy training.
