KALIBO, Aklan –- Mayor Raymar Rebaldo was selected as the first Aklanon semi-finalist to the prestigious 2006 Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees (Pagasa Award) by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for his exemplary behavior and outstanding public service.
The search is by virtue of Republic Act No. 6713, Administrative Code of 1987, and Executive Order No. 508, s. 1992, as amended by Executive Order No. 77, s. 1993.
Rebaldo, in his stint as town mayor, has dedicated himself in implementing programs aimed at restoring the pride and valor of Kalibo. With his leadership, the Ati-Atihan town of Kalibo – a first-class municipality - is definitely on the right track towards further development and progress.
He is married to former Alita Madula Marte with whom he has three grown up children. The town’s chief executive has also served the barangay Poblacion of Kalibo. As barangay captain, he was awarded as Outstanding Barangay Captain in the Philippines in 1997 and 1998.
The barangay Poblacion was also named as one of the Most Outstanding Barangays of the Philippines in 1999. After serving as barangay captain of Poblacion Kalibo, Rebaldo pursued his career in public service.
At present, he is a two-termer and the youngest elected mayor of Kalibo at 38. Kalibo was also cited as the Child Friendly Municipality and awarded the prestigious Nutrition Award and the coveted CROWN (Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition) Award.
Last Wednesday, an evaluation team from CSC Region 7 arrived here to evaluate the performance of Rebaldo in local governance and his commitment to public interest, responsiveness to the public, nationalism and patriotism, professionalism, justness and sincerity, political neutrality, commitment to democracy, and simple living.
Three prestigious awards are at stake: the Lingkod Bayan Award, Dangal ng Bayan and the Pagasa Awards. The Lingkod Bayan Awardee shall receive a gold medal and a plaque containing the citation and signature of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
