BORACAY – The Caticlan Boracay Transport Multi-purpose Cooperative (CBTMPC) assured passengers of its newly acquired multi-million ferry that it is complying with sea safety standards.
CBTMPC chairman Godofredo Sadiasa said the modern P1.5-million 50-seater ferry has complied with the Marina Industry Authority (MARINA) permits while previously serving the Batangas-Puerto Galera route.
“Marina regional officials inspected the ferry three days ago. If the weather cooperates, we target the test run on the last week of August,” he stressed.
Sadiasa said the launching of the “Mermaid” ferry is on September 2 to coincide with the 10th year anniversary of the transport cooperative and the opening of CBTMPC drugstore in Brgy. Caticlan.
“The cooperative met the required standards in all the motorized pump boats before these are allowed to load passengers and cargoes going to the island of Boracay,” Sadiasa said.
The acquisition of additional ferry, he pointed out, would further enhance the tourism industry of Aklan and improve transport services.
The cooperative also acquired a fast craft last year, which is being constructed in Brgy. Rizal, Nabas, Aklan to support the operations of the motorized pump boats, he added.
