LTO intensifies crackdown vs Boracay erring drivers

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 6 has intensified its crackdown against erring drivers and operators in Boracay Island through coordinated efforts with Metro Boracay Police Task Force (MBPTF).

From November 26 to 29, the LTO 6 Boracay augmentation force apprehended 188 drivers with motor vehicles for various violations.

Traffic enforcers impounded a multicab, five motor tricycles, 22 motorcycles and two dropside vehicles for various traffic violations. The vehicles were transported in the outer border of Boracay Island. 

The violations of erring drivers ranged from no seatbelt, failure to carry certificate of registration/LTO official receipt, expired driver license, unlicensed, delinquent registration, unregistered, no early warning device, no plate attached, no side mirrors and helmet. 

Edrex Rey Luz, chief of LTO Law Enforcement Service, discussed the Boracay Island deputation for the implementation of Republic Act No. 4136 or the Land Transportation Act of the Philippines with Police Superintendent Lavis Camdas, MBPTF Executive Officer for Administration and Marlon Velez, chief of LTO Kalibo District Office.
