Boracay ladyboys, thieves prey on tourists

Police have warned of lady boys and thieves who prey and are known to target visitors and residents in Boracay Island.

The popular tourist spot in Aklan is also a common destination for pickpocketers causing trouble to holidaymakers.

A week after the Boracay re-opening, the lady boys struck again by approaching the potential victims and convince them to have sex before stealthily picking the pockets of foreigners.

A Dutch national was the latest victim of a lady boy along the beachfront of Station 2 in Barangay Balabag at around 1:30 a.m. on November 5.

The lady boy identified as Glen Hermo delos Reyes, 21, resident of Passi, Iloilo persuaded to have sex with the Dutch national, but the foreigner refused.

Unknowingly, the lady boy stole his P2,100 in cash from his pocket. The foreigner tried to chase the suspect but the lady boy fled to unknown direction.

Later, the foreigner saw Delos Reyes in the beachfront after an hour. He accosted the ladyboy and brought him to Boracay police station. 

Three robbery suspects were also apprehended by the police in Barangay Balabag on November 4.  

The store’s CCTV camera footage aided the police in arresting Daniel Discutido, 21, Jessler Casimero 17, and Emie Santiago, 21, residents of Barangay Manoc Manoc.

The suspects allegedly took P500 worth of assorted goods and P1,000 in cash in the cashier’s box.

An Italian tourist and his Filipina girlfriend were  also victimized by two suspects in Station 2 in Barangay Balabag on October 26.

The suspects – Carlo Vargas, 41, and Reynaldo Buenafe, 39, from Oton, Iloilo took their black wallet containing P15,000 in cash, US$60 and assorted credit cards.  

Vargas and Buenafe yielded a handgun revolver with six ammunitions when the Boracay police arrested them on November 1 with the help of CCTV camera footage.
