Tokhang surrenderee arrested in buy-bust

A 22-year old drug personality was arrested for selling illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation on October 28 in Kalibo, Aklan.

Police identified the suspect as Kriz Kar Zabala alias Kar Kar, resident of Lumaynay in Altavas, Aklan. The suspect allegedly sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer worth P2,000 along F. Quimpo and Goding Ramos Streets in Poblacion Kalibo.

The drug surrenderee of Oplan Tokhang in his hometown was under surveillance by operatives of Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU). The suspect is also well-known in Kalibo as one of the suppliers of illegal drugs for students.  

The sting operation at around 9 p.m. was conducted by Aklan PDEU and Kalibo municipal police station.  

“Matagal na under surveillance ang suspek simula na madakip natin ang ibang drug personalities sa Kalibo. Positibo siya na gumagamit  at nagtitinda ng druga sa mga parukyano niya sa Kalibo “said Chief Inspector Frensy Andrade of Aklan PDEU.

Zabala also yielded sachets of suspected marijuana during the body search.

“Marami tayong nakuhang marijuana sa kanya. Gumamit siya bago naaresto ng mga operatiba natin. Dahil may bisyo siya, kailangang magtinda siya ng druga para masustained and bisyo,” the police official said.  

The suspect is temporarily detained at Kalibo municipal police station lock-up cell after his arrest.

Zabala is facing charges for selling illegal drugs (Section 5) and possession of illegal drugs (Section 11) of Republic Act No. 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, Andrade also urged drug surrenderees to stop their illegal trade activities or face the consequences.  

“Dapat tigilan nila ang illegal drugs dahil nakasisira din ito ng mga pamilya,” he stressed.
