64 Ati-Atihan tribes, groups in Tamboe Sadsad

Sixty-four Ati-Atihan tribes and groups take centerstage in ‘Tamboe Sadsad‘ opening salvo on October 26, the Kalibo festival organizer said.

Around 2,800 participants will kick off the traditional street dancing and rhythmic beating of drums for the 2019 Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan festival.

Tamboe Sadsad is the ‘October version’ of merrymaking and festivities where thousands of balikbayans, tourists and devotees pay homage to Senor Sto. Nino come January in Kalibo, Aklan.

The tribes and groups are Tribu Datu Puti, D'Cousins, Pirates, Toronian Hotshot, Remember D' Family, Merisi, Delex 300, Atras Abante, Young Keys, Los Companeros, Royal Scorpio, Tribu Alibangbang, Tribu Anono-o, D'Emagine, Aeang-Aeang, Tribu Bukid Tigayon, Bantod Smile, Adamas Ace, Longstone Trail, Mego, Remedyo, Vindeta, Iwa Iwa, Skylarks, Kamicousinz, Lagalag 27, Vikings, Kinantuing, Bae-ot Bae-ot and Ants Paea.

Taking part in the afternoon Sadsad are 509, Eleven '05, SNV, Etcetera, Piktaw Piktaw, Gangat, Ampod, Brotherhood, Apo ni Inday, Akatsi, Team Balong, The Andagao City, Road Side, Janlef A-town, Footslugger, D'Gonz, Tribu Responde, Aklanon Troopers, D'Iraders, Tribu Niniolitos, Black Beauty Boys, D'Familia, Cnemorun, 3J's Marino, Hilltop Ibajay, Mamugon, CTL Remcum, Atras Abante Internationale, The Godfather, Anino, Lezo Tribe, Blue Birds, Malipayong Ati and Village People.

The participants will assemble at 1:30 p.m. along Arch. Reyes Street and XIX Martyrs Street before heading to downtown Kalibo. 

Festival director Albert Menez said the Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi), Philippine Airlines and GMA TV Regional Network will be signing Memorandum of Agreements for the festival during the opening salvo program.

Sixteen finalists of Mutya it Kalibo Ati-Atihan - Sofia Claire Inocentes, Shenna Ellica Retiro, Princess Shemith Filomeno,  Nicole Angela Crescini, Jamella Jane Remaneses, Philiana Hedy Zante, Arlene Faye Beltran, Shenna Adrien Pador, Maria Ramona Nieto, Pearly Ann Libuton, Jamaica Venturillo, Mary Anne Lopez,  Cuty Ann Guzman, Aubrey Denille Sy, Gina May Curises and Francesca Beatriz Abalajon will have their first public appearance at Kalibo Pastrana Park. 

GMA Kapuso actress Katrina Halili and Jan Dice Villabroza of Eat Bulaga That’s my Bae will also hit up the stage in ‘Tamboe Sadsad’.

Hysteria 2.0 in Kalibo Magsaysay Park begins at 6 p.m. with DJs Bettina Lopez, Jeb Jingco, Vega, Pep Mayor, Eric Gella and MC Phatjorj.
