Drug surrenderee in Aklan nabbed for shabu

BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

A tricycle driver was arrested for selling illegal drugs in police drug bust operation in Kalibo, Aklan.

The operation happened at around 9 p.m. in Sitio Libtong in Barangay Estancia near a chapel on September 1.

Police identified the suspect as 27-year old Julyfer Albacino, native of Barangay Tambuan in Malinao, Aklan and presently residing in New Buswang in Kalibo. He allegedly sold two  sachets of suspected shabu worth P4,000 to a poseur buyer.

Albacino admitted he used illegal drugs before he surrendered in Oplan Tokhang of the Philippine National Police (PNP). He also agreed to a drug test after his arrest.

The suspect said he was driving a ‘colorum’ tricycle in Barangay Poblacion when the operatives asked him to bring to Sitio Libtong.

“Nagpipinta din ako at kanina lang ako nagbiyahe ng tricycle. Inarkila ako at agad dinumog pagdating namin dito sa Libtong. Hindi naman sa akin ang nakuhang druga at pera, planted lahat,” he stressed.

Prior to the sting operation, Albacino was under surveillance for more than three months by operatives of Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) headed by Chief Inspector Frensy Andrade.

The suspect also yielded his wallet, mobile phone and cash money during the body search.

Albacino will be facing charges for violations of Section 5 (illegal selling) of Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
