Affected
consumers of Aklan Electric Cooperative (Akelco) are reminded of 10-hour power
interruption that will hit parts of the province of Aklan and Antique on
September 2.

The
scheduled shutdown of National Grid Corporation of the Philippine (NGCP) will
be in effect for Akelco frachise area serviced by Nabas, Boracay and Caticlan
substations.
The
Sunday’s power interruption would affect the whole towns of Nabas and Ibajay in
Aklan, Pandan and Libertad in Antique and parts of Tangalan from 7 a.m. to 5
p.m. and Boracay Island and the towns of Malay and Buruanga from 7 a.m. to 1
p.m.
Akelco
assistant general manager for engineering Joel Martinez said the NGCP will
conduct preventive maintenance activities in its 138-kilovolts Panit-an
(Capiz)-Nabas (Aklan) transmission line and associated high voltage equipments
(HVEs).
NGCP
will have unloading and load transfer process for Akelco’s substations of
Andagao (Kalibo), Lezo and Altavas from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Altavas
substation is servicing the towns of Altavas and Batan and portion of Balete.
Lezo substation also served the consumers of Lezo and Malinao and portions of Madalag, Tangalan and Numancia.
Aside
from NGCP maintenance operations, Akelco will have a scheduled power
interruption from 8 a.m. to 12 noon for the whole town of Malinao, parts of
Bagto in Lezo and the whole barangays of Biga-a, Poblacion, Mina and Sta. Cruz
in Lezo and Alaminos in Madalag.
Akelco
personnel will be cutting branches of trees along the provincial road of Lezo,
Aklan.
Martinez
said normal power operations in all the franchise areas of Akelco will resume
after 5 p.m.
