A
man was stabbed to death in Malinao, Aklan and his brother was arrested for
slaying him.
The
incident occurred in Sitio Banlok in Barangay Manhanip after the 46-year old
Rolando Yabut was killed by his younger brother Christopher Yabut, 33, on Friday
evening at around 9:40 p.m.
The
elder Yabut was rushed to Aklan provincial hospital in Kalibo, Aklan but he succumbed
to stomach wounds at around 11:15 p.m.
After
the stabbing, Christopher fled in unknown directions. The suspect voluntarily surrendered
at around 9:30 a.m. Saturday to Police Inspector Jose Iturralde, police chief
of Lezo, Aklan and a resident of Barangay Manhanip.
The suspect was taken into custody and detained at Malinao police station lock-up facility.
Police
failed to recover the deadly weapon believed used by the suspect to kill Rolando.
“Nag-kainuman
itong magkapatid at nagka-initan sa usapan sa partehan sa lupa. Sinaway sila ng
kanilang pinsan at sinabihang umuwi na,” according to Senior Police Officer I
Eriberto Icayan of Malinao municipal police station.
Icayan
said the victim was on his way home when Christopher confronted, and without
hesitation stabbed his elder brother.
“Dumating
itong si Christopher bigla dahil itong si Rolando ay patuloy na sumisigaw, at nasaksak itong biktima sa
tiyan,” the police officer added.
Christopher
will be charged for homicide after he is accused of stabbing his brother
Rolando.
