All systems go for Boracay closure security

BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

With over 600 policemen, it’s all systems go for the Boracay closure as far as security preparations are concerned.

Senior Superintendent Ryan Manongdo of Metro Boracay Task Force reassured the safety of residents as maximum security and 100% deployment of security forces are implemented in the island ahead of six-month Boracay shutdown.

Security personnel in outer border control areas in Tabon port, Caticlan port, Sambiray cargo port and Union, Nabas are working 24/7 to ensure security outside Boracay Island.

Police are also implementing ‘one entry, one exit, no I.D. no entry’ for residents and workers. Tourists – foreign and domestic – are not allowed to enter the island starting April 26.

The Metro Boracay Task Force, Philippine Army, Joint Task Force Boracay, Provisionary Public Order Company, and volunteer groups also conducted capability demonstration exercise and stakeholder’s engagement to display the readiness of security forces and emergency responders.

Sea borne patrol operations along the waters of Boracay by Philippine Navy and Philippine Coast Guard as well as target hardening against terrorist threats by 605th Maritime Police Station in mainland Malay are part of the efforts to ensure peace and order by security forces during the Boracay closure.
