Two Aklanons - Ronelie
Algarne Pador and Noelle Fuentes Uy-Tuazon are official candidates in one of
the biggest beauty pageants in the country – the Philippines Miss Earth 2018.

The 25-year old Pador, a
flight attendant, will try her luck as pageant candidate of Kalibo, Aklan. Anthropologist
Uy-Tuazon, 26, will also represent Tangalan, Aklan in the grand finals and coronation
night on May 19 at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
Pador wants to sustain the gifts of nature and people’s livelihood through responsible ecotourism as part of her environmental advocacy.
“Aklan is a land blessed with nature's bounty, from the world's best beach in Boracay to the Queen of Philippine Fibers, the piña, the rich marine life and other natural attractions. These resources need to be preserved for future generations,” she added.
Uy-Tuazon finished in the Top 15 of Miss World Philippines 2017, her first pageant competition ever.
She advocates marine preservation and sustainable ecotourism in rural and maritime communities in her Miss Philippines Earth journey.

“II truly want to make an
environmental impact and help people through my skills that I have acquired so
far. I am very determined and optimistic that I can bridge gaps as well as
promote sustainability by utilizing this platform for positive change in helping
not only my motherland but the rest of the planet,” she stressed.
The swimsuit parade and Resorts wear competition of more than 30 candidates is set on April 21 at Lausgroup Event Centre in San Fernando, Pampanga. On April 23, the candidates will have their Earth Day “Trash to Class” fashion show at SM South Mall.
The Miss Philippines Earth grand finale will be aired by ABS CBN on May 20 at 10 a.m.
Karen Ibasco, the reigning Miss Earth Philippines and Miss Earth 2017, will crown her successor this May. The winner will also represent the country in Miss Earth pageant later this year.
