Kalibo festival promises mix of food and music

Good food, great music extravaganza in downtown Kalibo promises to be the much-awaited mid-year event.

“Food Festival” in Kalibo Magsaysay Park kicks off on June 18 until June 23 in celebration of the feast of patron saint John the Baptist (Juan de Bautista). 

The foodie festival features the finest local bands, rappers, stand-up comedians and disk jockeys from Manila, Kalibo, Iloilo and Bacolod. 

On June 18, DJ Jay Tabernilla will share his music with ravers in the opening night and acoustic duo Ivan and Jimenez, Western Boulevard band and DJ Lee Dumael  on June 19.

Music lovers are in for a treat with acoustic Mike Regalado, Intensity band and DJ Alex Buday  on June 20. Truesonic, M.O.M band and DJ Lhaarny take the stage to showcase their DJing skills and rip-roaring energy on June 21.

Don’t miss Bacolod Improv Group (BIG) performers with their “unrehearsed and unscripted” performances also on June 21.

On June 22, a stellar line-up which includes acoustic duo Nikki & Yeng, Broadband, DJ Pep Mayor and MC Alex Buday will play chart-topping songs and a heavy dose of beats and drops.

Upstream band of Bacolod, The Sound of Enonia from Iloilo, DJ Mia Fernandez and MC Chunk from Manila will headline the ‘bisperas food fest’.  Ain & Yayen acoustic duo together with “Tunog Ritmo” with DJ Ton and MC Alex Buday will also pumped up the crowd on June 23.

The event, now in its 22nd year, organizer Kalibo Ati-Atihan Tourism Council (KATC) and the local government of Kalibo will bring together 14 food stalls that offer authentic flavors, beverages and traditional dishes aside from no-holds-barred music party.
