Acting Aklan Schools Division
Superintendent Dr. Ernesto Servillion, Jr. said there will be no suspension of classes
in the elementary and high school levels as transport groups will protest the
national government’s plan to phase out old jeepneys.
School officials, he stressed,
are directed to closely coordinate with the Philippine National Police, Armed
Forces of the Philippines and the local government units to ensure the safety
and to help ferry students and teachers stranded in transport strike.
Servillion said they prepared
the schools during the Brigada Eskwela with the support of stakeholders and
barangay officials.
This year, 384 classrooms for
senior high schools will be constructed in line with the implementation of K-12
program.
Only 259 classrooms were
completed of the targeted 288 classrooms for senior high schools under the
national budgets for the years 2014 and 2015. Elementary schools completed in
Aklan numbered 124 out of 152 classrooms.
Six classrooms were also
completed and 67 classrooms for senior high schools are still under
construction by partner agency Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)
for the year 2016.
For 2017, DepEd Aklan has 267
teaching positions for senior high schools.
