Kalibo cops manhunt ‘handcuffed’ suspects

Manhunt is underway for the suspects who escaped from police custody in the early hours of February 25 in Kalibo, Aklan.

Police identified the suspects as Nino dela Rosa, 20, and Randy Fulgencio, 18, both are residents of Purok 3 in C. Laserna area in Barangay Poblacion.

The suspects were earlier arrested for house robbery in Barangay Estancia owned by Senior Police Officer 4 Luzbella Isada, who is assigned in Kalibo police station. 

After the arrest, the police onboard their patrol car brought the suspects at Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital for their routine medical examination.

Shortly after they came out of Aklan provincial hospital’s emergency room, the suspects who were handcuffed with their hands on the front managed to flee to unknown direction at around 2:30 a.m.

During the extensive search, police believed the suspects were hiding in Kalibo public cemeteries but they were unable to find the suspects.   

Police said they recovered a handcuff from one of the suspects near a store along Toting Reyes Street in the morning.
