DENR distributes special patents to 22 Aklan schools

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) distributed special patents to 22 school sites in nine municipalities in the province of Aklan.

Properties classified as “alienable and disposable lands” were issued with special patents under the name of Department of Education, pursuant to Republic Act No. 10023 or the Residential Free Patent Act of 2010.

Aklan PENR Officer Ivene Reyes together with Aklan governor Florencio Miraflores and Atty. Victor Tesorero of Register of Deeds awarded special patents to beneficiaries in Aklan on December 8.

School sites in Ibajay, Kalibo, Makato, Balete, Madalag, Nabas, Lezo, Malinao and Batan which have been continuously occupied for decades without land titles were qualified for the issuance of special patents for school sites and educational purposes. 

Kalibo Integrated Special Education Center in Poblacion Kalibo with a land area of 7,459 sq.m.; Nalook Elementary School (7,905 sq.m.) and New Buswang Elementary School (5,204 sq.m.) were recipients in the capital town of Kalibo.

In Ibajay, Naisud Central School was allotted 12,915 sq.m., 12,823 sq.m. for Aquino Elementary School, 8,609 sq.m. for Laguinbanwa Elementary School, 5,043 sq.m. for Rizal Elementary School, 5,788 sq.m for Unat-Bagacay Elementary School, 5,756 sq.m. for Tagbaya Elementary School, 3,573 sq.m. for Buenavista Primary School  and 7,126 sq.m for San Isidro Elementary School.

In Makato, 16,032 sq.m. was segregated to Makato Integrated School, 7,133 sq.m. to Libang Elementary School and to Mantiguib Elementary School.

In Madalag, San Jose Primary School was allotted 5,392 sq.m. and Talimagao Primary School and 2,074 sq.m. 

Batan Elementary School in Ambolong,  Batan had 51,899 sq.m. while San Enrique Integrated School in Malinao was allotted  13,795 sq.m.
Uldarico P. Custodio Elementary School in Lezo was allotted 12,243 sq.m. and Gibon Elementary School in Nabas had a land area of 6,188 sq.m.

DENR also segregated 7,520 sq.m. to Arcangel Sur Elementary School and 8,891 sq.m. to Feliciano Elementary School in Balete. 

Under DENR Administrative Order No. 2015-01 signed Secretary Ramon Paje, land titling of public schools aims to provide a solid legal basis for land ownership and serve as assurance and entitlement to the said institutions.

A free patent on residential land covers those in public alienable and disposable areas that are zoned by LGUs as residential, including town sites, public schools, municipal halls, public plazas or parks, delisted and abandoned military camps or reservations, as stipulated in the Public Land Act.
