Responding to ASEAN printing challenges

For the first time the country’s printing industry under the leadership of Benito J. Brizuela, president emeritus; lawyer Dominador D. Buhain, incumbent president; and George Lora, past president of the Philippine Printing Technical Foundation (PPTF) are putting up a united front to respond to the ASEAN regional printing challenges.

Firstly, PPTF is spearheading the holding of PRINTECH 2015 from September 4 to 6 at the World Trade Center to promote industry unification of a single printing show that would benefit stakeholders, particularly suppliers as well as take of point to attract ASEAN countries and other foreign participants in a consolidated grand printing show.

Already, big printing suppliers are supportive of the PPTF’s initiative with their commitment to join PRINTECH 2015 in view of their aspiration.

Secondly, PPTF which is now the ad interim president of ASEAN Print, a body comprising the national printing associations of ASEAN countries, is likewise spearheading the ASEAN Print Trilogy from November 23, 24 to 25 at the Novotel Hotel at the Araneta Center Cubao. 

Segment One comprises ASEAN Printing Training Program from November 23,24 to 25 where selected speakers from ASEAN countries will speak on assigned topics relevant to printing and graphic arts concerns of their respective countries. Participants would be limited to 100 on a first come first serve basis.

Segment Two comprises of Election of Officers to be participated exclusively by chief delegates.

Segment Three would be the ASEAN Forum to be participated in by participants of the Training Program and by the chief deligates which shall be rendering country reports, to be followed by Questions and Answers, Strategic Resolution and Adoption of resolutions.

On November 25, the culmination event would take place where Certificate of Recognition and Trophies would be conferred upon the chief delegates and Certificate of Participation will be given to the participants of the Training Program.

The leaders of the Philippine Printing Industry is taking seriously the emergence of ASEAN, the body of the ten South East Asian countries.
