New fire truck for BFP-Ibajay

BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Ibajay received a brand new fire truck on August 7 in a turnover ceremony at Camp Vicente Lim in Calamba, Laguna.

The BFP-Ibajay fire truck, a 1,000-gallon capacity truck from China, was part of the 80 units or first batch of fire trucks procured by the agency to municipalities in 55 provinces.

Ibajay town mayor Ma. Lourdes Miraflores and BFP-Ibajay Fire Officer III Rommel Ignacio received the keys of the reliable and working fire truck from BFP Director Ariel Barayuga and Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas III, who led the distribution of fire trucks to governors, town and city mayors at the National Training School in Laguna.

To upgrade the firefighting capability of BFP, a total of 469 units worth P2.326 billion will be distributed to local government units with no fire trucks or dilapidated units. The fire trucks are supplied by winning bidder DLA Marketing and Wuhan Automobile Refitting Factory of China.

BFP’s acquisition of new fire trucks is in line with the modernization program to provide every town in the country with its own and quality fire fighting units.

The province of Aklan has six fire stations in the towns of Kalibo, Numancia, New Washington, Altavas, Ibajay and Boracay Island in Malay.

BFP-Ibajay is the first fire station in Aklan to receive the China-made fire truck with  a pump-and-roll mechanism which enabled the trucks to shoot water while it is moving.
