DOH’s Sandugo recognizes Aklan awardees

The Department of Health (DOH) awarded the organizations, individuals and LGUs in Western Visayas for their involvement in the blood collection campaign.

Aklan awardees were recognized on August 14 for their support on DOH’s National Voluntary Blood Services Program. The regional Sandugo recognition and awarding ceremony for volunteers and individuals was held at Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center in Iloilo City.

Sandugo awards have become a tribute for individuals, local governments and communities for their commitment to ensure sustainable and long-term supply of blood. 

The awardees from Aklan were ShangriLa’s Boracay Resort and Spa; DYSM 100.1 Love Radio Kalibo Kalibo Cable Television Network Inc.; Philippine Guardians Brotherhood Inc. Banga, Aklan; Hennan Group of Resorts; Barangay Cabangila, Altavas Aklan; Boracay Island Water Company Inc. and Barangay Cajilo, Makato, Aklan. 

Other awardees were Aklan State University Kalibo campus; Northwestern Visayan Colleges Criminology Department; DyIN Bombo Radyo Philippines Kalibo and coordinator Roger Debuque. 

Republic Act No. 7719 otherwise known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994 strengthens the advocacy for voluntary blood donation to provide sufficient supply of safe and adequate blood to save lives.

Government agencies and volunteer organizations were mobilized to enhance the campaign for the voluntary blood donation and collection. 

Every year, the Department of Health targets to enlist at least 1% of our total population to join the national pool of blood donors.
