Acting Aklan police director Senior Superintendent Iver Apellido said regular on-the spot inspections will be conducted to ensure that police personnel on duty are wearing proper uniforms or comply with ‘Tamang Bihis’ policy.

The program of the Philippine National Police also emphasizes proper grooming, physical cleanliness and punctuality in reporting to their duties and imposing discipline on erring personnel.

Apellido said he will issue delinquency report to police officers in Kalibo police station following his surprise inspection on Thursday morning to remind them of proper decorum.

“May mga personnel na wala ga-observe sang tamang bihis kag punctuality during our first inspection sa Kalibo. I direct the personnel na na-late to report sa Aklan Police Provincial Office to explain together with their chief of police. Pati ang deployment sang mga pulis kag ang duty scheme na gina-praktis sa Kalibo, kinahanglan ma-check ta,” he said.

Apellido also reminded the police officers to project good image while in the performance of their duty, to include compliance with the PNP Letter of Instruction 06/09 "Tamang Bihis Alpha."

The “unauthorized or improper wearing of uniforms, insignias and accouterments, unauthorized haircut, dirty shoes, dirty uniform, unshaved mustache, no hanky or tickler, Miranda warning card as required during inspection and other similar minor offenses” would earn demerits based on the National Police Commission (Napolcom) issued Memorandum Circular 2010-003 for the PNP’s delinquency reporting system.

Absence and tardiness in reporting for duty and command activities and those who leave their post for more than two minutes, sleeping on post, or failure to initiate actions on complaint are also offenses that entail demerits for police officers.
