MKWD on a hunt for manager replacement

BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

The hunt is on for the next general manager of Metro Kalibo Water District (MKWD).

After 14 years in MKWD, Edgar Isada retired last week at the age of 65. He worked as board of director for 12 years and two years as general manager before his retirement.

The MKWD board of directors chaired by Atty. Edmund Peralta had appointed, for the meantime, Rogelio Estanislao as acting general manager, also the officer-in-charge of Admin, Finance and Commercial Services division.

Peralta, however, refused to name those candidates seen as replacement of Isada.

“There are candidates for MKWD general manager, but we have to announce it in due time. They will undergo rigorous process of selection for the vacated post since the general manager is vital to the operations of MKWD,” he said in an interview.

Peralta said the MKWD board of directors has the sole authority to select as to who is the possible successor of Isada.

For his part, Isada thanked the MKWD officials and the highly motivated employees for their support during his term as general manager.

“Being in government service and working in a water utility company has many challenges. I have not yet fulfilled all that I have planned to do for MKWD, but I think these people that I have worked with will be able to accomplish what we have started together as a team,” Isada said in a statement.

MKWD, categorized as large water district, is the sole distributor of potable water for consumers in the towns of Kalibo, Banga, New Washington, Balete and portions of Batan. The water distributor also has a bulk water agreement with Numancia Water District since July 2012.

As of April 30, 2014, MKWD has 25,280 household connections.
