BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

The Boracay Island record for the longest massage chain has been officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, according to Malay town tourism officer Felix delos Santos.

The Guinness World Record certificate stated “the longest massage chain is 1,600 participants at an event organised by the Philippine Association of Licensed Massage Therapists (Philippines) in Boracay, Malay, Aklan, Philippines on 16 May 2014.”

The event was part of the Boracay Day celebration last year that took place in the White Beach. It was spearheaded by the local government of Malay in collaboration with government agencies, private corporations and non-government organizations.

Boracay achieved the feat by surpassing the record set by 1,223 participants on April 28, 2010 by Have A Good Dream Co. Ltd and Thai Beverage Marketing Co. Ltd., at the Rama IX Park, Bangkok, Thailand for the longest massage chain.
