to P933-million worth of infrastructure projects are ongoing to develop the
road networks to the region’s premier tourist destination in the province of
Aklan, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 said.
Of
the P932.56 million road projects, the agency has allocated P531.72 million for
the 57-kilometer Aklan West Road widening and improvement.
A
total of P400.84 million was also funded by DPWH for improvement and widening
of the 12-kilometer Aklan East Road to Altavas, Aklan while the remaining
P32.56 million will be used for the improvement of road network by DPWH Aklan
District Engineering Office.
The
on-going projects in Aklan West and East Roads and bridges which are supervised
by DPWH Regional Office 6 once completed will provide a safe and convenient
travel to the public to Boracay Island and eco-tourism destinations in Aklan.
This
year, the agency also allocated of P840 million for the flood control projects,
farm-to-market-roads, improvement and widening of roads and construction of
multi-purpose buildings in the province of Aklan.
Last year, DPWH funded P12.2 billion for 489 infrastructure projects spread across six provinces in Western Visayas.
Aklan has 29 projects worth P1.101.823 billion programmed in 2014. At the end of the year, 19 projects were completed and the remaining 10 are currently on-going.
