BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

The innovative and finest products of Aklan will be showcased in the 16th Aklan Piña and Fiber Festival in Kalibo, Aklan to be held from April 22 to 26.

The five-day trade show will provide opportunities for small and medium entrepreneurs of Aklan Piña Mantra Inc., the Aklan Horticulture Society and the Hugod Aklanon Producers Association, Inc. to promote their products.

Spearheaded by exhibitors and local entrepreneurs in Aklan, the trade show features Aklan’s best products such as abaca, piña and raffia loom woven fabrics, bakery, souvenir items, pasalubong products, fashion accessories, health and wellness products.

The annual event also offers wearable and homestyle products, ornamental and garden products and processed foods.

The upcoming trade show at The Trade Hall in Capitol Grounds is supported by provincial government of Aklan, the Congressional District of Aklan and the Department of Trade and Industry-Aklan.

The event is one of the highlights of the weeklong 59th Aklan anniversary held annually in April. The celebration is commemorated every April 25 of each year pursuant to Republic Act No. 1414 signed by President Ramon Magsaysay.

The province of Aklan became an independent province on April 25, 1956. Congressman Godofredo Ramos authored the law that formally separated Aklan from its mother province of Capiz.

Meanwhile, the province will celebrate the Aklan anniversary with civic and military parade, agri-link trade show, Tsibugan sa Kapitolyo, talibong festival, farmer and fisherfolk day, inter-department sportfest, agri-trade showcase of local government units and community-based organizations, dog show, Gov. Florencio Miraflores Basketball Cup, garden show, among others.
