The province of Aklan has received P56.8 million worth of relief goods for Typhoon Yolanda victims from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office.

Aklan, one of the hard-hit provinces in the Visayas by Typhoon Yolanda, received 173,321 food packs out of 1,184,406 food packs from DSWD. The food packs were intended for the second round of relief distribution on the first and second quarters of this year.

The typhoon hit the towns of Aklan on November 8 last year, destroying P2.811 billion of agricultural crops, infrastructure and government facilities.

The relief pack for Typhoon Yolanda victims had 20 packs of noodles, 10 corned beef, 10 canned sardines and 20 sachets of 3-in-1 coffee.

Out of P862.5 million of relief goods for six provinces, Iloilo received 402,289 food packs amounting to P294.4 million; Guimaras received P22,185 worth of 85 packs; Capiz had 417,916 food packs amounting to P380.6 million;  Antique, 145,498 food packs amounting to P118.9 million and Negros Occidental, 45,297 packs amounting to P11.8 million.

DSWD regional office also announced that it will release funds for the benefiaries of the Cash for Building Livelihood Assets (CBLA).
Donations worth P94-million received by the national government will benefit 23,396 recipients in Western Visayas.

Around 3,400 beneficiaries from Aklan will be given cash in exchange for their community work at P287 per day for 15 days per person.

DSWD will also release P6.4 million worth of Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) assistance for 909 recipients from Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo and Antique.

Last month, the ASEAN Plus 3 Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) turned over to the National Food Authority (NFA) rice from the government of Malaysia for distribution of 11,425 bags to Aklan beneficiaries.

DSWD and the local SWDOs facilitated the distribution to recipients who had totally damaged houses.
