BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

Operatives from Aklan Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSIOTG) and the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC) arrested two persons and yielded 14 sachets of suspected shabu in Boracay Island on Thursday night.

A poseur buyer bought a sachet of methylamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, worth P1,000 in Sitio Bantud, Barangay Manoc-Manoc in a buy-bust operation that resulted to the arrest of  alleged drug pushers.

Seized by anti-drug operatives were nine sachets of shabu from Leumar Espinosa, 23, and five sachets from Moises Granole, 21, from Victorias City, Negros Occidental. The suspects are temporary staying in Sitio Bantud in Barangay Manoc-Manoc prior to their arrest.

Espinosa, who hails from Infante, Molo, Iloilo City, sourced his supply of illegal drugs in Iloilo.

Police said Granole was also involved in theft cases in Boracay Island. Recovered from his boarding house were identification cards, passports and credit cards.

The suspects were detained at BTAC lock-up cell. They will be facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Aklan Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Kalibo, Aklan.
