A 50-year old drug suspect from Capiz province was apprehended Thursday morning after a buy-bust operation in the capital town of Kalibo. 

Julie Delfin of Barangay Bailan, Pontevedra, Capiz sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer for P1,000, police said. 

Delfin was collared by joint elements of Kalibo police station Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group and Aklan Public Safety Company while trying to resist arrest.

The buy-bust operation was conducted at the corner of Roxas Avenue Extension and Calachuchi Road in Barangay Andagao at around 6:45 a.m. near AKY gasoline station.

Authorities recovered sachet of suspected shabu, P1,000 marked money, lighter and P3,877 cash in various denominations from Delfin.

A search of the brown sling bag of Delfin yielded one big plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing 5.9 grams with an estimated market value of P40,000, improvised scoop straw with shabu residue,  digital weighing scale, express padala forms, assorted garments and mobile phone.

Also arrested was 19-year old Jasper Bernard Belmonte, native of Barangay Guadalupe Viejo, Makati City and presently staying at Conception Village in Barangay Andagao, this town.

Belmonte, who works as tourist photographer in Boracay Island, denied he had connections with Delfin.

He also insisted on his innocence when asked by operatives if he is selling illegal drugs.

“Owa ko nakilaea imaw (Delfin). Kaadto ako sa Boracay ag owa it gasolina ang motor. Nag patayon  ako sa gasoline station ag tag ga pa diretso eon ako ag ga paandar it motor, tag  gin hold ako it mga pulis,” he said. 

Belmonte said, “ga sakay kunta imaw (Delfin) kakun tag nakita ko imaw nga ga paadto ga paki-paki.”

He is also ready and willing to undergo a drug test anytime to prove his innocence. 

Seized from Belmonte were mobile phones, P920 cash money and a cartridge case of 9mm caliber placed inside a plastic bag and recovered inside the u-box of his motorcycle unit.

Police also recovered the belt bag of Belmonte with P4,010 cash money, express padala form and twelve pieces of $10 US dollars. 

The suspects were taken into custody at the Kalibo police station pending filing of appropriate charges. 

Meanwhile, police arrested several people in a series of buy-bust drug deals this week. In Boracay Island, three drug suspects identified as Reniel Sullano, 19, from Barangay Poblacion, Ibajay, Aklan and Asuncion Semitara, 50, from Pasay City were nabbed in Sitio Bulabog in Barangay Balabag last June 29.

Another suspect Jackson Ferriol, 35, native of Odiongan, Romblon was collared in Talipapa Bukid in Barangay Manoc-Manoc on July 2. 

Jesse Perucho, 33, resident of Barangay Polo, New Washington, Aklan was also arrested on July 1 in a buy-bust operation in Sitio Dumlog, Barangay Tambac, New Washington, Aklan.
