Two public servants from the local government of Kalibo, Aklan are among the semi-finalists of the 2014 Search for Outstanding public officials and employees.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced the individuals and groups vying for Presidential Lingkod Bayan and Civil Service Commission Pagasa awards for outstanding work performance and Dangal ng Bayan award for the exemplary conduct and behavior of government workers.

Maricel Bechayda, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer VI of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), is among the eight individuals named as semi-finalists for the Civil Service Commission Pagasa award.

The award is conferred for outstanding contributions of individuals or groups resulting from an idea or performance which directly benefit more than one department of the government.

Bechayda was recently awarded Best Employee and her DILG Kalibo as the Best DILG Municipal Office in the region during the prestigious Search for Excellence in Local Governance (EXCELL) Awards last January.

On the other hand, Agricultural Technologist Alicia Rebuelta will vie for Dangal ng Bayan award along with 14 individuals. The award is conferred to an individual for performance of extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior.

The awardees for Dangal ng Bayan will be selected  on the basis of their commitment to public interest, professionalism, justness and sincerity, political neutrality, responsiveness to the public, nationalism and patriotism, commitment to democracy and simple living.

Last month, Rebuelta was recognized as Outstanding Municipal Organic Agricultural Focal Person during the 55th anniversary of Western Visayas Integrated Agricultural Center in Bacolod City.

Awardees of Dangal ng Bayan will take home P200,000 and a trophy designed by National Artist for Sculpture Napoleon V. Abueva. Pagasa awardees will also receive P100,000, gold-gilded medallion, and a plaque containing the citation and signature of the Civil Service Commission Chairman Francisco Duque III.

The public is encouraged to send feedback on the semi-finalists on or before July 1, 2014.

The awards rites will be held in Malacañan Palace on September to highlight the celebration of the 114th Philippine Service Anniversary.
