Four suspects were arrested by joint operatives of Kalibo police station and Aklan Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) on Tuesday night in Kalibo, Aklan.
Police Inspector Wilfredo Holifena, chief of PAIDSOTG, said 24-year old John Nicklyn Teodosio of Barangay Jumarap, Banga, Aklan and his three companions were apprehended at NP Festival Inn along Pastrana Street at around 10:30 p.m. in Barangay Poblacion.
Teodosio, a former Philippine Army member assigned at Camp Jizmundo in Libas, Banga, Aklan, was discharged from service due to absence without official leave (AWOL).
Hofilena said the arrest was made after a poseur buyer handed P1,000 marked money for a sachet of suspected shabu to the suspects. Also recovered from Teodosio were additional three sachets of shabu, mobile phone, P2,400.40 cash money and a 22-caliber revolver.
Police also apprehended 44-year Romuel Pamatian of Barangay Cayangwan, Makato, Aklan. Seized from Pamatian were three suspected sachets of shabu.
Operatives also caught in the act two female students in a pot session inside the hotel room. They were identified as Diane Jane Montano, 18, of Barangay Agbalogo, Makato, Aklan and Floravell Iguban, 18, of Barangay Albasan, Numancia, Aklan.
"Matagal na nating under surveillance ang mga suspects na ito. Mga estudyante ang binibigyan nila ng drugs. Sa kabilang probinsya ng Capiz sila kumukuha ng supply," Hofilena said.
"Halos isang buwan na silang nag-stay sa hotel bago ang operations ng kapulisan natin," he added.
Police on Monday evening also collared 25-year old Loid Rubias, native of Barangay Tondog, Tangalan, Aklan in a separate buy-bust operation in Baybay, Tangalan, Aklan.
Recovered by operatives of PAIDSOTG and Tangalan police station were five sachets of suspected shabu, mobile phone, P1,000 marked money, 38-caliber revolver and a Suzuki motorcycle unit used by Rubias in his drug transactions.
The suspects are facing charges for violations of Section 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Acts of 2002 before the Aklan Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
