Aklan 4Ps recipients receive P833-M cash grants

The province of Aklan released around P833 million of conditional cash grants to families under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) from year 2008 to 2014.

Data from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6 showed the province of Aklan had P832,978,200 to 26,396 family beneficiaries as of April this year. 

The report also noted that 4Ps beneficiaries in Aklan have high compliance on health, family development sessions and education compared to other provinces in the region for the first period from January to February 2014.

Aklan has high compliance rate of 97.77 percent on the number of regular check-ups in barangay health centers. It is actually the highest in the region followed by Guimaras with 96.08 percent and Iloilo with 96.01 percent.

The poor school children of Aklan also have high compliance rate of 93.42 percent on school attendance, above the required 85 percent school attendance rate for 4Ps recipients.

Aklan beneficiaries also ranked first among the provinces in the region with 96.74 percent high compliance rate on family development sessions. The session is one of the conditions which the household beneficiaries must comply to remain as 4Ps recipients.
 
The province of Negros Occidental had the biggest number of beneficiaries of 121,925 and P2.743 billion cash grants followed by Iloilo, with P2.434 billion for 89,360; Capiz with P975 million for 37,360; Antique with P954 million for 28,002 and Guimaras with P169 million for 7,948 qualified beneficiaries.

Under the 4Ps poverty reduction and social development program, the qualified and extremely poor families receive a monthly health and nutrition grant of P500 each while their children get educational grant of P300 each.
