From January 1 to March 8, eight wanted persons including four foreigners have
been arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Boracay Island.
Last year, the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC) operatives apprehended 21 wanted persons, in which two were Korean nationals and a Swedish
national.
The
no let-up campaign of BTAC against wanted persons resulted to the arrest of
Melba Boyles of Ubay, Bohol at Barangay Manoc-Manoc for 35 counts of qualified theft
last March 8.
The
32-year old Boyles is the 6th most wanted person in the municipal
level. A bail of P948,000 is recommended for her temporary liberty.
The
warrants of arrests were issued by Judges Ronald Exmundo, Elmo del Rosario, Nestor
Bartolome, Jemena Abellar-Arbis and Domingo Casiple of the Regional Trial Court
in Kalibo, Aklan.
Two persons were also arrested
on February 17.
Police identified them as
26-year old Robbie Lee Magno from Barangay Cabudian, Duenas, Iloilo and Reymund
Tubao, 23, from Barangay Calimbajan, Makato, Aklan.
Magno was arrested for the
crime of qualified theft. A bail bond of P20,000 is recommended for his
temporary liberty. The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Elmo del Rosario
of Regional Trial Court in Kalibo, Aklan.
Tubao was also arrested for the
crime of slight physical injury with a bail bond of P4,000. The warrant of
arrest was issued by Associate Judge Maribel de Guia-Cipriano.
BTAC operatives also nabbed
Nestor Lacbay for
violation of Section 5 of Republic Act No. 9262 otherwise known as
“Anti-Violation against Women and their Children”.
The warrant of arrest was issued
by Judge Bienvenido Barrios, Jr. of the Regional Trial Court in Kalibo, Aklan.
Of
the eight wanted persons, four foreigners were also nabbed in less than three months by BTAC operatives.
Two Romanian nationals
identified as Bogdan Pavel and Adriana Popesco were arrested in Bolabog Beach,
Barangay Balabag for the crime of illegal recruitment and two counts of estafa.
The warrants of arrests were issued by Judge Felixberto Olalia
Jr of the Regional Trial Court in Manila.
The foreigners were ordered released after posting the
recommended bail of P84,000 each in the proper court.
On
February 19, Stacey Carpenter, an American national was nabbed for the crime of
less serious physical Injury while on February 21, German national Qualid Belja
Amor was arrested for the crime of resistance and disobedience to an agent of
person in authority.
The
warrants of arrests were issued by Maribel de
Guia-Cipriano, Assisting Judge of 5th Municipal Circuit Trial Court-Buruanga-Malay,
Aklan.
