APS photo exhibit features Kalibo Ati-Atihan festivalBY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL
KALIBO, Aklan - Catch the photo exhibit of the Aklan Photographic Society (APS) with images taken during the Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival starting June 6.
Close to 100 enlarged digital photographs capturing the pomp and pageantry of the famous Kalibo Ati-Atihan festival will be shown by APS members.
The never-seen photos, printed in 8 x 12 inches colored and black or white prints, were selected to be featured in the photography exhibition in partnership with the local government of Kalibo and the Kalibo Sto. Nino. Ati-Atihan Foundation Inc. (Kasafi).
APS president Ramel Buncalan said the photo exhibit at the lobby of the Kalibo Town Hall is open to the public after the ribbon cutting ceremony by officials of APS and Kalibo mayor William Lachica on Monday morning.
Buncalan said the project also aims to support the municipal government and Kasafi’s year-round promotion of the Kalibo Senor Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan festival.
The exhibit, he stressed, brings together the photographic art of the most-sought after APS amateur and professional photographers, hobbyists and enthusiasts under one roof that provides a glimpse of the celebration of the annual Kalibo festival in honor of Senor Sto. Nino, held every third week of January.
Now on its third year, APS is actively promoting Aklan’s tourism by dedicating the time and talents of club photographers in all aspects of photography. APS regularly offers creative photography outdoor sessions and workshops for its members to learn and improve their photography skills.
