Aklanon boxer scores win in Bohol fight

Mhar Jhun Macahilig Aklan scored the 11th win of his professional career, dropping Allan Doronilla via a technical knockout at the start of the 8th round of the non-title showdown at the Calape Cultural Center in Bohol on Satuday.

According to a report by phil-boxing.com, ALA Boxing light flyweight standout Macahilig claimed his seventh knockout victim Doronilla of Cagayan de Oro in their 10-round scheduled fight supported by Cobra Energy Drink ‘Tunay na Lakas ‘Boxing Series with ALA Promotions.

Macahilig, who celebrated his 21st birthday on June 23, has improved to 11 wins and one loss. Standing 5'3" tall, Macahilig debuted professionally in 2009 and presently ranked No. 11 in the country's flyweight division.

Meanwhile, Provincial Sports Coordinator Wilfredo Neri lauded Macahilig from Kalibo, Aklan following his victory against Doronilla (7 wins, 5 losses).

Among the impressive fights of Macahilig were against Ryan Tampos in Boracay Island on March 26 (2nd round TKO), Michael Espinosa (unanimous verdict despite first round knockdown) in Mandaue City, Cebu in June 2009, Elbert Guardario (unanimous decision) in May 2010 and Jermie Jabel (7th round TKO) in Cagayan de Oro City on December last year.

In May 2009, Macahilig sent Francis Lee Cutanda on his back in just 47 second in Cebu Coliseum "Pagsubok" boxing event and knockout Roque Lauro in the first round in October 2009 in Lahug, Cebu City.
