KALIBO, Aklan – The Kiwanis Club of Kalibo, Inc. will hold its ‘Operation Tuli’ for free this summer.
Tuli is the Filipino word for circumcision, an annual “manhood rites” for boys.
Volunteer physicians will perform the circumcision on young boys in Laguinbanua East in Numancia, Aklan on May 29 as part of Kiwanis’ outreach program in the province.
Some 25 to 30 adolescent boys are set to avail of the free operation as a Filipino rite of passage this summer, said KC of Kalibo secretary and Past Lt. Gov. Gabrielito Prado.
KC of Kalibo, Inc. president Edwin Muzones stressed that aside from the circumcision, the club in partnership with the barangay council, Aklan Medical Society, Philippine Academy of Family Physicians and KC of Kalibo Jewels will also conduct a feeding program of fortified rice with soya protein meal package for children called ‘Balay ni San Jose’.
Muzones said KC Kalibo, Inc. is also celebrating its 32nd anniversary on June 12 highlighted by a holy mass, motorcade, gift-giving and an anniversary program.
