Governor Marquez: collection efficiency of EEDD highest in Region 6, cited real property tax collections

KALIBO, Aklan – Governor Carlito Marquez has lauded the remarkable collection efficiency of the Economic Enterprise Development Department (EEDD) and the Provincial Treasurer’s Office.

Over DyRU Super Radyo, Marquez said the record high collection efficiency rate of 504 percent in economic enterprise revenue generation was the highest among the provinces in Western Visayas, according to the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) of the Department of Finance.

The province of Guimaras reached a 107 percent collection efficiency rate followed by Antique, Negros, Iloilo and Capiz. Caticlan and Cagban ports in Malay, Aklan are the major sources of revenues for the EEDD, which collected P10.3 million in the month of March.

The province of Aklan also exceeded its target of P135 million in real property taxes by 114 percent. With collections of P154 million in real property taxes, Aklan came in a distant second behind the province of Guimaras with 119.58 percent collection efficiency.

Guimaras collected P38.75 million from its target of P32.4 million in real property taxes while Negros had P217 million collection against its P238 million target for a 91.18 percent efficiency rate.

In terms of budget size, Aklan has the third highest provincial budgets among the provinces in Region 6.
