BORACAY - A suspected drug pusher was apprehended in a buy-bust operation on Friday evening by operatives of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group in the island of Boracay.

Police authorities led by Inspector Christian Burgos identified the suspect as 28-year old tattoo artist Alex Gelito of Sitio Bulabog in Barangay Balabag.

Gelito is the third drug suspect arrested for the month of April in the intensified campaign on illegal drugs of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) under the leadership of Senior Superintendent Cornelio Defensor, Jr.

Confiscated from the suspect during the buy-bust operation were a plastic packed containing suspected dried marijuana leaves, P500 including the marked money and a cellphone. Gelito was arrested near a resort in Station 1 in Barangay Balabag when a police-poseur buyer bought from him the illegal marijuana.

He is facing charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, two sealed items containing 17.2 grams of suspected shabu worth P130,000 were voluntarily surrendered to the Tangalan police on Saturday morning.

The three sachets of alleged shabu seized in the bag of the 20-year bus passenger while boarding the Roro bus express from Cubao, Metro Manila are now in the custody of the Aklan Provincial Crime Laboratory Office, the police said.
