Kasafi reports P1.835 million income from Ati festival

KALIBO, Aklan - Festival organizer Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi) reported a net income of P1.835 million from the proceeds of 2011 Kalibo Ati-Atihan festival held last January 10 to 16.
With Kasafi handling the festival, the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) inked by Kalibo Mayor William Lachica and Kasafi chairman Albert Menez last year requires the festival organizer to submit a financial statement of festival operations within 60 days after the Kalibo Ati-Atihan celebration.
As of January 25, the Kasafi has some P1.481 million in cash. Total cash receipts generated from the festival totaled P4.182 million and with account receivables of P583,000.
Menez said sponsorships and financial support/donations were the biggest sources of foundation's income.
Other sources of income were ticket sales from Hala Bira Ati-Atihan Nights from January 10 to 13 and Mutya it Kalibo Ati-Atihan pageant last January 5 amounting to P334,200 and depot Sales of Drinks in the Kalibo Magsaysay Park of P130,618.25.
In the report on Ati-Atihan expenses, cash prizes of P415,000 and subsidies to tribes of P491,500 account for the biggest items of the P2.915 million total expenses.
Other 'big ticket' expenses were the printing of souvenir program of P275,000; solicitors incentives of P104,500; Ati-Atihan festival materials of P388,133; taxes and licenses of P228,202 and incentives to gatekeepers, police, reservists and Ati-Atihan adjudication committee of P225,300.
Meanwhile, the municipality of Kalibo sponsored Hala Bira Ati-Atihan Nights from January 14 to 16 also generated P932,000 ticket sales.
