KALIBO, Aklan - The Aklan Photographic Society (APS) and the Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi) together launched the 2011 Ati-Atihan Photo Contest slated from January 10 to 15.
"Faces of Ati-Atihan" is a public photo contest focusing on the 2011Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival. The photography competition is open to all amateurs and professional photographers.
APS founding president Ramel Buncalan said each participant is allowed to submit a maximum of five entries either in digital or film format. The entries must capture the spirit and unique celebration of this year's Ati-Atihan festival in the town of Kalibo in honor of Senor Sto. Nino.
Photo entries could be submitted in black and white or color. The photos should be printed in an 8 x 12 inches size photo paper and submitted in an envelope with their P500 registration fee before 6 p.m. of January 15 at the Kasafi office at the 2nd Floor of Capt. Gil Mijares Building in XIX Martyrs corner Rizal Streets.
Photos must be taken from the events of the 2011 Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival. The entries will be judged on thematic relevance (40%), originality (25%), technical excellence (25%) and decisive moment (10%).
Buncalan said the contest winners will be announced on January 16. The photo contest grand winner will be awarded P15,000, first runner-up for P10,000 and second runner-up for P5,000. These winners will be notified via email or phone on where and how to claim the prizes.
The Ati-Atihan photo tilt is supported by La Esperanza Hotel, RGMA DyRU Super Radyo Kalibo, Citizen Bazar, Starline Furniture Center, Boy Ryan Zabal, HR's, Mr. and Mrs. Jophel Concepcion, Hianna Load Central, CEF Drugstore and Technopoint Technology Center.
