KALIBO, Aklan – Be aware of the upcoming surveys and don’t be surprised if statistical researchers from National Statistics Office (NSO) visit your house this October.
Statistician II Rodelyn Panadero said NSO Aklan is conducting series of surveys in the province to gather data on labor force, domestic visitors and overseas Filipino workers.
NSO Aklan will also undertake Consumer Expectations Survey (CES) on two sampled barangays of Dumaguit in New Washington and Tigayon in Kalibo, Aklan from October 1 to 15.
The CES is a household-based quarterly survey in collaboration with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to gather information on the expectations and sentiments of the households sector on the economic conditions in the country.
By October 8 to 31, statistical researchers hired and regular field men of NSO Aklan will conduct the Labor Force Survey (LFS) on selected barangays in Aklan, with rider survey on Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), Household Survey on Domestic Visitors (HSDV) and survey on census communication program.
Panadero said sampled barangays for LFS are Poblacion (Altavas), Morales (Balete), Magpag-ong and Mambuquiao (Batan), Dumaguit (New Washington), Tigayon (Kalibo), Poblacion and Logohon (Madalag), Polo, San Isidro and Venturanza (Banga), Albasan and Badio (Numancia), Jawili (Tangalan), Nagustan, Solido and Pinatuad (Nabas).
The survey on OFW will collect demographic information and details of the remittance volumes of skilled, unskilled workers and professionals. The NSO enumerators will also include HSDV to determine the volume of domestic tourism in the country.
The nationwide labor force survey by NSO is the main target for the October survey which aims to generate information on the trends of employment, unemployment and underemployment in the country.
With these surveys, Panadero also appealed to the residents to cooperate and support the statistical researchers who are conducting the surveys on sampled barangays.
She said the NSO regional office is manually checking the data of the 2010 Census of Population and Housing gathered by the enumerators last May 17 to June 14 before the initial result of the population count will be released.
