The vice governor said it is incumbent upon them, elected and newly elected provincial officials to keep sacred the mandate, renew and strengthen their commitment to serve the people.
"On my part, the renewal of my mandate by our people to further serve as vice governor and regular presiding officer of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan further drives me to serve even better and more," she said.
"Although, we in the legislative, for the past three years, have proven its readiness to collaborate with the chief executive for the overall development thrusts, priorities and strategies of Governor Carlito Marquez. Under the 2010-2013 Sangguniang Panlalawigan, I am hopeful that we could cement the long lasting harmony between the chief executive and the legislative branch through the Executive Legislative Agenda (ELA) so that for the next three years we could move in harmony and in synchronous manner which augurs well in our search for total development of our province and the economic upliftment of our people," she stressed.
Calizo-Quimpo also challenged the elected and newly elected SP members to strive for harmony, accord, unity and diversity while they aim to even be more dynamic and productive as the previous term. She said the young members are eagerly looking up to the wisdom and expert guidance from the senior SP members, thus, the latter should not disappoint them, rather, they should serve as perfect model to them.
"Let us be humble and prudent when we speak and master the ability to respect the opinion of others," the vice governor added.
To pave the way for smooth collaboration and harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative branches of the provincial government, Aklan Governor Marquez was invited to grace the inaugural session of the 2010-2013 Sangguniang Panlalawigan on Thursday morning.
Calizo-Quimpo said the governor laid down his short term priorities for the next three years that greatly helped chart the directions in the tedious grind of the legislative mill of the province.
