Aklan solon interested to chair tourism committee
BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

KALIBO, Aklan - With the Liberal Party (LP) all set to control key committee chairmanships, Aklan Rep. Florencio Miraflores is interested to head the tourism committee in the upcoming 15th Congress.
Speaking over DyRU Super Radyo Kalibo, Miraflores said committee assignments are being assigned to majority of LP members, including the tourism committee, one of the 57 standing committees up for grabs.
Miraflores, now in his third term, was a member of the House of Representatives Election Tribunal (HRET) and senior member of tourism committee in the 14th Congress.
"During the chairmanship of Rep. Edgar Chato, his home province of Bohol got more budget allocations in tourism projects. If we get the tourism committee chairmanship, we could have a say, at least, in the budget for key infrastructures related to tourism in Aklan," he said.
Miraflores said key projects in Aklan like the completion of the Kalibo International Airport and infrastructures for Boracay are vital for the growing tourism industry of the province.
On July 26, President Benigno Simeon Aquino III will deliver his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) before the joint session of Congress and Senate.

Yes to chairmanship of the tourism committee, NO to the upgrade of the Godofredo Ramos airport in Caticlan to international standard.
