Boracay
BY BOYSIE VILLAVICENCIO

As most people will agree, Boracay is the ultimate destination for total relaxation and fun.
Boracay is a tropical island located approximately 315km (200 miles) south of Manila and 2km off the northwest tip of the island of Panay in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines and through the years so many locals and specially those from abroad, and foreigners, make it a point to visit the place.
Famous for its powdery white sand and crystal waters, the weather along the island is mostly sunny and rains and typhoons can begin about July until late September.
A few years ago, I flew and experienced lovely Boracay in late September when the FCCP group was hosted by Johnny Litton. That was an affair to remember and everyone was happy having spent three days and two nights there.
In Boracay, aside from the local dialect – Aklanon, Filipino and English is widely spoken and so it was easy for us to get around.
Flying time from Manila to the resort island is about 45 minutes either to Kalibo or Caticlan.
Once there, a 15 minute banca ride takes you to the island of Boracay.
On evening, we had dinner at the Boracay Regency and we all remembered all the good food we had there….and by the way, in case you also wish to spend your stay at the Boracay Regency (like some of my friends always do), a private car will take you right at its door steps.
With its striking Mediterranean-inspired architecture, landscaped gardens and expansive beach front, this is a resort that stands unparalleled in beauty and service in the entire island.
My friends were raving about how much they enjoyed the breathtaking view of the sea from the Regency’s designed rooms.
They, too, wined and dined in the Regency’s restaurants that satisfied their palates, and later, when they were tired of the sea water, they took a swim in the sparkling waters of the hotel’s magnificently-designed swimming pools.
When we were in Boracay, we did not stay at the Regency but I can not say less of the hospitality we received from the establishment we called our "home" for two nights. ……but next time, indeed after all the raves we heard from our friends about their total comfort at the Regency, maybe we also wish to experience their total service.
Now, we have to do a bit of planning for that!!!
