KALIBO, Aklan – Already assured of at least a semifinal seat, Judiciary I upset perennial leader Alpha Media, 613-602, in the 3rd Vice Governor Gabrielle C. Quimpo Aklan Media Bowling Cup at Q-Zone Bowling Center last night.
Greg TaƱeza had 148 pinfalls to lead Judiciary I while Cris Gubatina added 127, Efren Galvan had 122, Nicoaron Roldan rolled 116 pinfalls and Melinda Jalbuna scored 100.
Southpaw Jethro Laserna of Aklan Media Forum did not play for Alpha Media after leaving for Iloilo in official business last Wednesday. His team, however, had a game-high from Joselito Edwin Ramos of Philippine Information Agency (PIA) with 158 pinfalls. Ron Bautista of CBIS Hot FM and Ronnel Barrida of RGMA DyRU Super Radyo contributed 124 pinfalls each, Ramil Tirazona of RMN DyKR had 106 and Jhinkie Jane Balairos of Love Radio Kalibo tallied 106 pinfalls.
Aklan Police Provincial Office -Philippine National Police (PNP) also registered its four consecutive victories in five games against Bravo Media, 602-541. PO1 Don Briones scored 140 pinfalls and got a big lift from Insp. Belshazzar Villanoche and SPO3 Benny Jones Mendoza with a combined 264 pinfalls. NUP Wilyn Magsisi added 103 and PO2 Nida Gregas had 95 pinfalls for Aklan PNP.
The victory of Aklan PNP dealt the Bravo Media its second straight defeat way back against tournament leading Judiciary I last Tuesday. Arnel Arrieta, Jr. of Radyo Boracay finished 158 pinfalls, Pempe Dulce Besario of CBIS Hot FM chipped in 124, Odon Bandiola of Aklan Media Forum had 102, Jujet Reyes of IBC DyRG Budyong with 79 and Doddie Balairos of RGMA DyRu Super Radyo hauled 78 pinfalls for Bravo Media.
Meanwhile, Charlie Media registered its second straight triumph over winless Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Aklan, 702-467. Arnel Relampago of Kalibo Cable TV showed off his best form with a game-high 168 pinfalls while teammates Ronnel Irodestan of CBIS Hot FM had 161, Claribel dela Cruz of Aklan Reporter contributed 150, Hagbong dela Cruz of Aklan Reporter tallied 118 and Lucy Villaruel of IBC DyRG Budyong had 105 pinfalls.
IBP Aklan skidded to its five straight defeats in the seven-team bowling cup, which started on April 19 until 25 in celebration of the Aklan Press Freedom Week. Flosemer Chris Gonzales led the IBP Aklan with 128 pinfalls, Brian Calizo had 91, Niflem Meren wound up 89 pinfalls, Sharmaine Atienza posted 81 and Ervie Taytayon had 78.
Judiciary II also routed Alpha Media in a close game, 521-516. Roderick Robillo topped the Judiciary II with 126 pinfalls, Ramon Felipe Manuel Mayor contributed 107, Alvin Mindanao had 104, Marissa Peralta added 93 and Steve Policarpio with 91 pinfalls.
Ramos led the Alpha Media with 145 pinfalls, Barrida of RGMA DyRU had 118, Bautista of CBIS Hot FM scored 104 pinfalls, Balarios of Love Radio Kalibo finished 76 and Louie Aguirre of Aklan Cable TV rolled 73 pinfalls.
In today’s games, Judiciary II battles Judiciary I and IBP Aklan clash at 5 p.m. with Bravo Media. Judiciary I still have to face the Aklan PNP at 6:30 p.m. to complete its six-game elimination matches.
Judiciary II (2-2), Bravo Media (2-2) and Charlie Media (2-3) are in the tight race for the last two slots in the cross-over semifinals.
