Athletes vie for Mr. and Ms. WVRAA Palaro 2010 titles

KALIBO, Aklan - The best and the gorgeous candidates of the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Palaro 2010 take centerstage at the Gov. Augusto B. Legaspi Sports and Cultural Complex on March 14.
The pageant and coronation night for the Ginoong and Binibining WVRAA from six participating provinces of Iloilo, Guimaras, Antique, Negros Occidental, Capiz and the host province of Aklan is scheduled at 6 p.m.
The candidates will strut their stuff in sports wear, talent, question and answer and in regional costume. The special awards to be given are Best in Formal Attire, Mr. and Mrs. Congeniality, Best in Talent, Best in Festive Costume, Best in Sports Attire and Best in Question and Answer.
The pageant features one male candidate for the Ginoong WVRAA and one female candidate for the Binibining WVRAA for each participating delegations in Western Visayas.
Major awards are Mr. and Ms. WVRAA Palaro 2010 and 1st Runners-up to 4th Runners-up
to be awarded by Aklan Governor Carlito Marquez, DepEd regional director Mildred Garay, Aklan Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo, DepEd assistant regional director Corazon Brown and Aklan Schools Division Superintendent Victorina Laroza.
Hosting this year's pageant are Julius Macabantad, Christine Nabor, Maria Santia Arboleda and Rheyda Tejada with performers included Andrea Kate Caparaz and Johanes Marlu Sison (Aklan Dance Sports winners Latin American Elementary Level) and Antonette Rebenito and Van Ian Teodosio (Aklan Dance Sports Winners Modern Standard Elementary Level).
Meanwhile, Aklan Governor Marquez hosts dinner dubbed "Pag abi abi: Governor's Night" at the Gov. Augusto B. Legaspi Sports and Cultural Complex on March 15 at 7 p.m. for the athletes and school officials from six delegations representing public and private elementary and secondary schools all over the region.
Watch out for the performances of Aklan Music Ensemble from the Kalibo Pilot Elementary, Tangalan Elementary School and Nagustan Elementary School, the DepEd band, Kalibo Elementary School, Banga Elementary School and the Regional Science High School for Region VI.
This year's WVRAA will banner the theme "Pahampang: Daean sa Kalinungan ag Kauswagan."
