Remonde is adopted son of Kalibo

KALIBO, Aklan - The Sangguniang Bayan of Kalibo approved a resolution declaring Press Secretary Cerge Remonde adopted son of this Ati-Atihan town of Kalibo.
The Kalibo council, in its regular session, unanimously supported the resolution declaring Remonde as son of Kalibo for his contributions as one of the pillars of the country’s free press.
Sangguniang Bayan member Lilian Quimpo-Tirol said Remonde will be officially named by the municipal government as adopted son of Kalibo during the 112th anniversary of XIX Martyrs of Aklan on March 23.
Aklan Governor Carlito Marquez, Kalibo mayor Raymar Rebaldo, Aklan Rep. Florencio Miraflores, Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo, Aklan police director Senior Supt. Clarence Guinto and Kalibo vice mayor Nilda Tambong will also grace the commemoration of the heroic and martyrdom of the Aklan XIX martyrs.
Remonde, who hails from Cebu, is also the guest speaker of the 1st anniversary of Kapihan sa Aklan organized by the Aklan Media Forum, Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. and the Aklan Press Club.
Before he assumed as press secretary, Remonde is the former national chairman of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) and Director General of the Presidential Management Staff (PMS).
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo named him press undersecretary and executive director of Radio Television MalacaƱang-Presidential Broadcast Staff in 2001.
Remonde obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, at the University of the Visayas (UV) in Cebu City. He is married to Marit Stinus-Remonde.
