“Matt Sings Monro” Aklan concert on April 18

KALIBO, Aklan – Matt Monro, Jr. is coming to Aklan for a one-night concert of timeless love songs and romantic ballads on April 18.
Rotary Club of Kalibo president Melrose Lunn said the fundraising concert is the first musical event by a foreign artist in Kalibo organized for “Every Disabled Child Matters,” one of the major programs of the organization of business and professional leaders in Aklan.
The nostalgic show to be staged at the Gov. Augusto B. Legaspi Sports Complex features is organized by the Rotary Club of Kalibo in cooperation with the provincial government of Aklan.
Matt Jr. will perform the classic hits of his father, such as Portrait of my Love, Softly, Walk Away and Go, Yesterday, All of a Sudden My Heart Sings, For Once in My Life, From Russia With Love and Born Free.
Lunn said the London balladeer is scheduled to arrive on March 18 in Kalibo, Aklan to promote the “Matt Sings Monro” live concert.
A luncheon meeting with the Rotarians, courtesy call with Aklan Governor Carlito Marquez, press conference with Aklan media, live radio interviews and a short appearance at Royal Supermart are among the activities of Matt Jr. on March 18.
Matt Jr. signed with the EMI label in 1995 for his album “Matt Sings Monro,” a collection of many of the best Matt Monro songs, done as duets with him following the example of Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole’s version of “Unforgettable.”
Last December 12, 2007, Matt Jr. also performed at One MGM in Boracay billed as “Matt Monro Jr.: The Memories Tour” as a tribute to his late, great father Matt Monro.
