WINNING MAYOR. Kalibo mayor Raymar Rebaldo is set to take oath of office before Presidential Management Staff (PMS) Director General Cerge Remonde on June 28 (BRZabal)
KALIBO, Aklan – Mayor-elect Raymar Rebaldo is scheduled to take his oath of office on June 28. Director General Cerge M. Remonde of the Presidential Management Staff (PMS), will administer his oath.
Rebaldo (Lakas-CMD-Tibyog Akean) garnered a total of 13,468 votes defeating opposition bet-former vice mayor William Lachica (United Opposition-Kusog it Akean) who got 13,299 votes. His winning margin was a slim 169 votes in the May 14 polls.
In 2004 local elections, Lachica lost against incumbent Rebaldo with 81 votes.
Aside from Rebaldo, other elected local officials also set to take their oath of office before Remonde are incumbent Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members Mark Quimpo, Lilian Tirol and Gregorio Malapad and former Andagao barangay captain Ronce Reyes.
Two weeks ago, elected opposition SB members – incumbent Madeleine Regalado, newcomer Emmanuel Soviet Russia Dela Cruz, former Poblacion barangay captain Peter Jean Lao and former kagawad Buencamino Villanueva - were sworn into office by Senate President Manuel Villar Jr. of Nacionalista Party.
Re-elected Vice mayor Dr. Nilda Tambong also took her oath before Villar.
Remonde, a native of Cebu City, served as chairman of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) and the current chairman of the Advertising Board of the Philippines, the Freedom Fund for Filipino Journalists, and the Appeals Board of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
